Hey Homework

Python console

Real Python running in your browser, with charts and a console.

What the Python console does

A real Python interpreter running in the tab, not on a server. Loops, maths, and matplotlib charts that appear inline. Nothing you type leaves your device.

A real Python interpreter running in your browser tab, not on a server. Loops, functions, the standard library, and matplotlib charts that appear inline under the code. Type, run, fix, run again.

It is for the first programming class, the statistics assignment that wants a plot, and the math homework you would rather compute than do by hand. Nothing to install, nothing to sign up for, and nothing you write leaves your device.

More about the Python console

It is CPython compiled to WebAssembly, so the behavior is real Python, not a lookalike. Errors are real Python errors, which is what you need to learn to read. It has no network access and no access to our servers, so it is safe by design.

Chat about this sends your code and its output into the conversation. Ask why the loop stops early, what the traceback means, or how to turn the script into a function.

Why ours is better

1

It is actually Python.

Many code playgrounds run a subset or a lookalike. This is the CPython interpreter, running on your machine, with matplotlib.

2

Nothing leaves your device.

The interpreter has no way to reach the internet or our servers. Your code runs in the tab and stays there.

3

The traceback is one click from an explanation.

Reading errors is most of learning to program. The chat can read yours with you.

How it was built

The runtime is about six megabytes, so it is downloaded only when someone opens this page, never on a page about a calculator. The first load takes a moment; after that your browser keeps it.

Because the code runs on your device, running it costs us nothing, which is why there is no limit and no account needed. The chat that explains it uses the same measured model routing as every other question on the site.

Keep what you work on

A free account keeps your questions together by class, remembers what you have covered, and gives you a weekly allowance rather than a daily one.
